This Is Why I Rail Against Religion

Paul O'Flaherty

People often ask why I actively take a stance against religion, rather than taking a “live and let live” approach, as from their perspective as members of their religion group, they see religion as a positive force.

The image below, which I picked up form some image aggregation site (they didn’t give attribution so if anybody knows the source, you know what to do) showing off pictures that were used in headlines this year, is the perfect example 0f why I believe religion must be actively challenged head on.

Yes, this is one small group of people from one religion, but the simple fact is that religion is actively eroding the civil liberties, rights, freedoms and even educational standards of people everywhere, and for anecdotal evidence all you have to do is look at politics in the United States.

Absolutely, positively true. If religious factions would adopt the “live and let live” approach themselves, then I wouldn’t give a shit either. But the fact is that they choose to push their ideological agendas on others. Fuck that. Game on.

The arab world needs a small dose of jacobinism, just to teach the faithful not to push it in public.

It’d be great to put these bigots together with fundamentalist bigots from other religions (Westboro Baptist Church?) and hopefully they’ll all kill each other and leave the rest of us to live without intolerance……until someone else invents another god.
