I am an Atheist/Anti-Theist. I am very proud of my journey that has brought me to this ever changing conclusion. The evolution of change that has brought me to this point in my life is displayed in this amazing piece of art. Jackie Rabbit of Star City Tattoo and Piercing in Roanoke Virginia was the amazing artist who was willing to take on this 14 hour project.
In collaboration with David Stoupakis’ piece called “Bookhead”, Jackie’s amazing vision came to be on my arm.
David Stoupakis is a world class artist and you can find his gallery on the net. You may know his work from working with Korn on their album, “See you on the other side”.
To be a human and to live in a land such as America, where freedom of self expression and information is readily available to us, but sadly is taken for granted everyday. This tattoo is more than just a piece of art, or just a tattoo. It is a journey displayed and to be discussed.
Life is about the journey, never the destination.
I would like to thank Brother Paul for displaying my tattoo and I would like to thank Jackie Rabbit for her amazing artistic ability, and David Stoupakis for his amazing art for us to be able draw inspiration from on a daily basis.
Living everyday inspired by Atheism by Fire.
It was our pleasure to run the picture Justin. That’s an amazing piece of ink with quite the story behind it.
It’s a stretch to include Einstein, Orwell, Darwin and Hawking in the same category as Dawkins and Dennet. Einstein was a notoriously supportive of faith in a higher being, and the remaining simply showed excellence in their respective professions without being religious. Dawkins and Dennet have made their mark by taking a stand in support for atheism, but fail to compare in analytical prowess as the former. It makes your jump to atheism seem a bit silly.
You can draw inspiration to be an Atheist from a whole plethora of places. It does not necessarily have to be one Atheist passing it on to another. Look at Christopher Hitchens for example. It was his teacher in grade school, a Catholic Nun, who began his thoughts into the unbelief of a deity. For you to tell me that Einstein was a religious man, I would have to say that you are sadly mistaken and you are misconstruing what that man said. Moreover, it’s not your tattoo, its not your experience, and thank god I am not you! I think that your presumptions about Einstein are silly and at best ignorant.
I do not
believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it
clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the
unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can
reveal it. (Albert Einstein, 1954)
